    The Importance of Having Vision

The whole secret of a successful life is to find out what one’s destiny is and to do it. HENRY FORD

Small dreams do not inflate the hearts of men and women. BILL BRIGHT

Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you have planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare... Here I am… I desire to do your will, O my God. PSALM 40:5-8

    We Need a Vision of . . .?

    1. We need a vision of what we are to do, what is to be accomplished, of the better future God has for our church, our community, our family and friends, our world.
    2. We need a vision of who we can become (by God’s grace). You need a vision of the best version of you, of who God wants you to be, of the inner world God is creating in you.
    3. We need a vision of OUR GOD. Who is God? What is He really like? What is He doing in and through us?
This vision message is about a vision of God and our prayer, Be Thou Our Vision.

The Presence of God With Us

I can do everything through Him who gives me strength. PHILIPPIANS 4:13

    Thoughts and Themes

    • God is at work to will and work according to His purposes.
    • Philippians 2:12-13
    • All things are possible with God. Matthew 19:26
    • Our God is an awesome God. 1 Kings 8:22-24
    • God is always at work. John 5:17
    • We do not know what to do but our eyes are on you. 2 Chronicles 20:12
    • God always shows up.
    • God is in this place.
    • The “Thin Places.”
    • Mustard seed, small and secret works.
The presence of God who is with us inspires, motivates, and empowers us for faithful and even courageous action in the world.

The Power of God For Us

And my God will supply all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. PHILIPPIANS 4:19

    Thoughts and Themes

    • The generosity of God. Romans 8:31-32
    • God provides abundantly. John 10:10
    • God our Helper, our Resource, our All in All.
    • Nehemiah 4:6; 6:15-16
    • God is able.
    • The Deep Needs of our heart.
    • We can trust God.
God empowers us with all that we need so we may do all that He asks. Our response is to trust and obey, and step out in faith to those places of testing and stretching.

    The Glory of God

To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen. PHILIPPIANS 4:20

    Thoughts and Themes

    • Ephesians 3:20-21 is a longer, more “elegant” version of Philippians 4:20.
    • God is great and God is good.
    • God is glorious.
    • The chief end (the great purpose) of life is to glorify our God and enjoy Him forever.
    • When we worship, God becomes "very great and very good” in our eyes.
    • God becomes for us, what He already is.
I believe the best is yet to come. I believe this because God loves His church, He loves His people, He is with us, His power is at work among us, He is not yet finished, and there is so much more He wants to do. In worship, we draw near to God, we see God as He is, we love God for who He is. Worship changes us. Worship gives us life, love, vital optimism, joy, hope… and we are energized to glorify God in faithful service.
