We are once again participating with Samaritan’s Purse in their shoebox drive, Operation Christmas Child. This wonderful ministry brings joy, needed items, small gifts, and the love of Jesus to children in need around the world! You can make a big impact in the life of a child somewhere around the globe.
Pick Up Shoeboxes
Free shoeboxes are available for pick up in the Common Grounds Lobby and Main Lobby.
Drop Off Shoeboxes
November 4 through November 11
Drop off your filled boxes in the Main Lobby or Common Grounds Lobby.
*All boxes must be dropped off by Nov. 11 so we can send them to a distribution center.
1. Find a shoebox.
It’s most helpful if you use the boxes we provide so packing and shipping is efficient. Pick up boxes on October 29. If you didn’t get a Living Word box, please use a standard size shoebox.
2. Choose an age and gender.
You can choose if you want to pack for a boy or girl. Then select age: 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14.
3. Fill the shoebox.
Select a medium to large “wow” item such as a soccer ball with a pump or stuffed animal, then fill with other fun toys, hygiene items, and school supplies.
DO NOT INCLUDE: candy; toothpaste; used or damaged items; war-related items such as toy guns, knives, or military figures; chocolate or food; seeds; fruit rolls or other fruit snacks; drink mixes (powdered or liquid); liquids or lotions; medications or vitamins; breakable items such as snow globes or glass containers; aerosol cans.
Most importantly, pray for the child who will receive your gift. You can also include a personal note and photo.
5. Label the box and pay to ship.
Donate $9 on the Samaritan Purse website and receive a tracking label to follow your box and discover the destination of your shoebox gift! You can also pick up a label at the drop off locations at Living Word and place $9 cash in the box. Note: If you can’t afford the shipping cost, please still donate a box.
6. Drop off at Living Word on November 5 or 12.
Once all the boxes are received we will share the total and celebrate together on a Sunday morning.
Thank you for blessing a child this Christmas through Operation Christmas Child!
