Why Should I Give?
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
(2 Corinthians 9:7-8)
Tithing and giving generously are acts of worship that express our gratitude, faith, and love for God.
Begin with Prayer
- Invite God to be part of your financial decisions.
- Ask God to give you a plan for the stewardship of His money.
- Open your heart and surrender your fears to God.
Step Forward in Obedience
- Make God’s kingdom your first priority when you face financial decisions.
- Be intentional and commit to giving a percentage of your income—whether a tithe (10%) or another figure.
- Give fearlessly so you can experience joy in the act of giving.
How can I keep a record of the amount I have contributed?
Giving history can be viewed any time by logging into your Connections account and viewing your transactions. Here you can access all giving history, including online gifts and gifts by check or cash. Annual giving statements will be mailed before the end of January to the address listed on your profile.
You can also generate your own giving statement at any time by selecting the Financial tab in the middle of the screen. Then, in the printable statement section, click Giving Statement. Next, you will be given a list of options to customize your giving statement. Click Run Report to generate your printable PDF giving statement.
What is online giving?
Online giving is the ability to give a donation or schedule a series of donations using your debit card, credit card, or bank account. We have partnered with Subsplash to improve your giving experience through a new platform and interface.
You will find all of the same features that Connections offered but with increased convenience and security. If you previously gave online through Connections, we encourage you to switch to our new giving platform.
How does Subsplash protect my data?
Subsplash is committed to protecting your consumer credit card data in compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). Their Level 1 PCI compliance is attested to annually by a PCI Qualified Security Assessor and their secure gateway is PCI Level 1, SOC1, and SSAE 16 compliant.
What types of cards can I use for online giving?
You can give using Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express.
Are there any fees involved with giving online?
No. You will not pay any fees with an online gift. Living Word pays all associated fees from our operating budget. You will receive credit for 100% of your gift. We encourage you to give through your bank account rather than through a debit or credit card, as the church incurs higher processing fees for debit and credit card transactions.
With our new giving platform, Subsplash we will have lower processing fees per gift. Please consider using this platform instead of Connections.
If we want to help people get out of debt, why does Living Word accept credit card donations?
Used within the parameters, debit and credit cards can be an efficient tool for payments and purchases. Many people utilize them in place of checks or cash throughout the month, and then pay off the balance in full. For these people, we offer the option of using a debit or credit card to give. We strongly discourage those who have ongoing credit card debt from exercising this option.

How do I set up and manage recurring gifts?
If you already have a recurring gift set up in Connections, you will want to cancel this gift first and set up your new recurring gift with Subsplash online or on the mobile app. Once in Subsplash, enter the amount for your gift, choose one of the following for the frequency: one-time, weekly, monthly, every two weeks, or twice a month. Next, click on the date if you want the gift to start on a date other than the current date.
Set up a new account. The first time you make a gift please take a few moments to set up your account by providing your contact information, credit card or banking information, and confirming via email. Next time you go to give with the app it will remember you. Setting up your account ensures you can give quickly, securely, and conveniently in the future.
Manage your recurring gifts in the new platform, Subsplash. From the giving page in the app OR on our website. Open the menu by clicking the person icon in the upper right corner and selecting “recurring gifts” from the drop-down menu. Easily view, edit, or cancel your gifts from this menu. To edit a current recurring gift you must cancel your current recurring gift and create a new one.
Can I give non-cash assets?
Yes. This is a creative option to give away items that you no longer need and use them for the Kingdom of God. Living Word Community Church has partnered with the National Christian Foundation (NCF) to administer the receipt of asset-based gifts (e.g., marketable securities, real estate, business interests) and disburse the proceeds to Living Word. If you choose to give through NCF, you will receive your tax deduction receipt directly from NCF. For more information, please call Scott Naylor at 717.755.0089 x101 or visit ncfgiving.com.
