Character is Destiny

It has been said that character is destiny.

Who you are and who you become – your essence, your nature, your internal way of being – is important above all things.

This is why Proverbs 4:23 says, “Above all else, guard the heart. For it is the wellspring of life.”

The Message translation says it this way: “Keep vigilant watch over your heart; that’s where life starts.”

Character is destiny. Who you are is what you do. What you do is what lifestyle you have. Your lifestyle results in a legacy and a destiny, which is why the Bible is so strong on character, virtue, and the renovation of your heart. Ralph Waldo Emerson captures this vital insight in his quote:

The fruit of the Spirit and the description of love are two of the clearest descriptions of the virtuous life (Galatians 5:22-23 and 1 Corinthians 13:4-8).

Living Word is here for the renovation of hearts, renewing of lives, and re-imaging of your inner world so you become like Jesus.

It is among the most vital work we will do for the well-being and flourishing of your life.
