Four times a year, on the 5th Monday of the month, we provide a hot lunch to York city residents at Our Daily Bread. Our Daily Bread is located at 331 S. George St., York, PA 17401.

  • Prepare chili and freeze in 13 x 9 aluminum pan. (You may purchase one at the grocery store or pick one up from the receptionist in the church office, 8:00 am-5:00 pm, Monday-Thursday.)
  • Bring frozen chili to Living Word kitchen by 10:40 am on Sunday, November 29, 2020. Chili can be dropped off the week prior to the serving date any time the church is open.
  • Serve lunch
    Serve lunch 11:00 am–noon on the outreach date at Our Daily Bread.

Compassion York

Six times a year we support the Compassion York ministry by providing a hot meal for city residents on a Sunday evening. This is a great opportunity for families with young children to help prepare a food item. Serving the meal is a great opportunity for groups.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will be doing online sign-ups for food donations. ALL food items will need to be dropped off between 3:30-4:30 pm on Sunday, November 22. Please pull up to Door #7 and hand the food to our volunteers. Please note: If you sign up for the main dish, you will need to purchase your own aluminum foil pan.

LIFEPATH CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES

This serving opportunity is not taking place at this time due to COVID-19.

The 2nd Sunday of each month a group of people (great ministry for growth groups) prepare and serve a meal at LifePath Christian Ministries (formerly the York Rescue Mission).

York County Food Bank

The York County Food Bank is fighting food insecurity in York County by collecting food from a variety of sources and equitably redistributing this food to partner agencies that include other non-profits, shelters, churches, senior centers, schools, and community centers.

Currently, the Food Bank also distributes food boxes on Tuesdays at their Hub in East York and periodically at pop-up distribution sites throughout York County.

Serving Opportunities:

“FOOD FOR FAMILIES”
This box packing and drive-through distribution take place at the Food Bank’s hub at 1094 Haines Rd, York.

“SENIOR” BOXES
Pack food boxes for seniors on Saturday, November 21 from 8 am-12 pm.

Serving Opportunities for ages 14+.

NOTE FROM THE FOOD BANK: If you or a member of your household have been in any of the states Governor Wolf has designated as HIGH CASE STATES (for COVID) in the past 14 days, you may not sign up or attend volunteer shifts.
