Do You Need Tightening or Loosening?

Some people need tightening. Others need loosening. How about you? What do you need?

If you are someone who needs tightening, that means your life is too loose, random, unorganized, and unstructured. And you feel it. Life is harder because you are too loose. Things are not working out as well as they should and that leads to unhappiness. Some folks need more structure. They need systems in place. They would benefit from some ongoing organization in their life. They need more self-discipline or self-control. They need some additional habits and routines. They need to be less impulsive and less reactive. If you are one of those people who need a little tightening, try it and see what happens.

If you are someone who needs loosening, that means you are uptight or wound too tight. You need to loosen up, unwind, and lighten up. You need to worry less (yes, easy for me to say, hard for you to do!). Stress is hurting you. You probably worry. You are anxious about many things. You may feel irritable or irritated. You may learn toward being a control freak and, if so, you need to let go of some of your control issues (God give you the grace you need to let go!). You need to go with the flow, remain positive, be light-hearted, and become more easy going. You probably need to laugh more and let some things remain undone. Uptight people are usually not very happy.

Tighten up if you need to or loosen up if you need to do that.

Either way, you will probably experience some difficulty at first, but stick with it and you will find it gets easier, life gets better, and you become happier.

I almost always need to loosen up a bit. How about you?

Pressing on together with you in The Flourishing Project,
Pastor Brian
