How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!

Question
Where do you need the blessing of unity?
Psalm 133
On Unity
Have you been in a worship service and looked around at your brothers and sisters in worship? It is an absolutely amazing sight.
Seeing people gather and sing their hearts out together in unity does something to the soul. Something about it is harmonious, pleasant, and beautiful. It is equally beautiful when the people of God are unified in peace and love outside of the service.
When God’s people are harmonious and pleasant to one another, blessing follows. Take a few moments to prayerfully read Psalm 133.
In this Psalm we see two images of the blessing that flows from unity. The first one is found in verse 2 with the image of Aaron, Israel’s first high priest, with oil cascading from his head down onto his beard.
The second image is of the dew flowing from a mountain top and providing nourishment, blessing, and life for the plants below (v3). Unification among God’s people is not just a goal to strive for, but it is a source of blessing from the Lord which cascades down and blesses everything.
Have you thought about unity being the way God showers blessing? Let us remember that the place where the blessing of the Lord flows like oil down the head or dew from a mountain, is the place where His people are unified.
Reflection:
What are some hindrances that keep you from unity?
What does unity look like among your friendships, in your marriage, at church?
Take some time to pray for unity in your personal life, church, and in the world. No matter how hard it is to unify, do not give up on the blessing that flows from unity. Unifying is tough but don’t stop praying, don’t stop seeking.
