Scripture

When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?

Psalm 8:3-4 NIV
Scripture

Where do you best experience God?

Psalm 3 - Devotional
Celebrating God for Who He Is and What He Has Done

The writer finds himself comforted by God, by how large he is, by the majestic works of the heavens. And yet, the God who sets his work in the heavens, the God who created the moon and the stars by hand, the God who is majestic above all else, is also referred to as Lord, our Lord. We are in relationship with this same majestic God.

And not only are we in relationship with him, but he also cares about us. He is mindful of us. He has given us work to do.

Have you ever felt small in relation to God?
Perhaps it was while standing on the edge of the Grand Canyon or looking out over a beautiful mountain scene? Perhaps it was in the simplicity of looking at a starry night sky or wondering over the beauty of a flower? God is so big and we are so small.

But even though we are lower than the angels, God trusts us with the care of his treasured creation. We are stewards and caretakers of God’s amazing creation. This amazing creation points us back to God, reminding us of his goodness and glory.

Where do you go to experience God’s majesty? How do you feel about being “lower than the angels”? What can you
do this week to pause and consider the wonder of God’s creation?
Prayer

God, help me to grasp how big you are and how small I am in comparison. Help me to take comfort in that. Help me to marvel at you and what you have created. Help me to be a good steward who cares for your creation. Amen.
