Scripture
For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.
Psalm 30:5 NIV
Question
How do you see God's love enduring in your life? (Psalm 30:5)
Psalm 30
Weeping and Rejoicing
..weeping may stay for the night,
but rejoicing comes in the morning. —Psalm 30:5b
We often want to control God, to tame him in a sense. But we can never do that. God’s ways are greater, better, and more expansive than ours will ever be.
Psalm 30 reminds us of this truth. In the midst of pain and anguish, God is always there. This is one of the most challenging aspects of faith—to know the Lord is present even when we do not feel or sense his presence.
And the question becomes this: What do we expect and how do we respond in “the dark night of the soul”?

David describes the right response to God: We worship (exalt) him, we ask for healing for our souls, we rest in his favor even when we feel insecure (v. 6), we ask for mercy, and the Lord is faithful to give mercy.
Today, as you read Psalm 30, make note of all the ways God demonstrates his love for you. Underline or highlight those statements and give thanks to him for his provision.
Finish by reading the last two verses of the psalm:
Hear, Lord, and be merciful to me; Lord, be my help.
You turned my wailing into dancing;
you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent.
Lord my God, I will praise you forever. —Psalm 30:10-12
