A Deeper Journey

An Introduction

There is a phrase that seems to be catching on over the past few years “spiritual but not religious”. There are many nuances to this phrase, but it speaks to a deeper longing that we all possess.

We are all feeling stress from the political tensions, family challenges and the isolation that we experience from too much screen time, disconnection from community and loneliness. We can find ourselves in a place of darkness and ‘burnout’ as these forces weigh heavily upon us.

The Deeper Journey is not a typical bible study that helps us better understand what the Word of God says. These studies are important in building a better understanding of His word and how it applies to our lives.

This cohort is quite different in that it focuses more on the deeper areas of our lives; the ‘below the waterline’ issues where we interact with others, face our own challenges and struggles often feeling overwhelmed. It provides spiritual practices, models and tools to have a deeper intimate relationship with God that is rich and personal.
We are indebted to Pastor Brian Rice who developed the materials for this class applying time tested teachings and practices that have been part of the Christian church for centuries. It is a combination of study, reflecting and engaging with small groups to apply them to our lives.

The classes are held once a week from September through April for 90 minutes and include a time of teaching and reflecting on the material with others. It is important that you are prepared to spend 1 to 2 hours per week engaging with the material.

The more you invest in the class the more you will benefit from its lessons. Here are a few testimonials from alumni who have found the lessons to be life-changing. The best way to approach this study is to make it your primary discipline for the 8 months that it is running.
